It's a great PVE combat ship, the best by my estimation. In a 1v1 against just about any faster and more maneuverable ship, I'd put my money on the Vette high waking out every time. Lots of time, to be sure, since it's a tanky son of a bitch. Even without reverb cascade mines, it's just a matter of time. All those big guns and big shields don't count for shit when your opponent can just boost away at will to recover every time their shields drop. Which is why it needs support to actually be useful in PVP. Just about any ship properly outfitted for combat can bury a Vette if they're determined enough because ultimately it's so slow that its opponents can engage and disengage at will and there's nothing the Vette pilot can do about it. And if and when it drops your shields, you just boost away and recover while hitting it with your long range weapons since it can't catch you and can't return accurate long range fire. Which means if you can stay behind it and pop chaff any time it manages to turn its guns towards you, you're pretty safe. Which is exactly what I would do against a Corvette in a 1v1.Įven if it's optimally outfitted for combat, it's still a big, slow target that is probably relying on gimballed/turreted weapons in order to actually hit anything other than other big, slow targets. It also means when I do fight, I'm mostly fighting big ships and popping prismatic shields with reverb cascade mines and disabling drives quickly, because most people who mine or trade in open don't fly paper. Most of what I do as far as PVP goes is piracy, which means flying less than optimal builds for combat in order to carry hatch breakers, manifest/wake scanners, collector limpets, and cargo. Everything you said about those ships is true in regards to the Corvette, but I don't fly an FDL, a Mamba, or a Chieftain. When I would switch to my Python for whatever reason, it felt grossly underpowered and WEAK compared to the Corvette. Shields on the Vette are also excellent, and seemed to stay together far longer than any Anaconda build I have used. It was rare that I ran out of power to keep them going. Unlike the other ships I use this load out on, the Vette could deliver constant power to the Beams, and basically allow me to keep the "heat" on my target as long as I wanted to hold down the trigger. The power management balance on the Vette was better than any other ship I have used in ED, and it allowed me to run my preferred load out of dual C3 beams and Multi-Cannons with ease. I wouldn't say that the Conda has anything over the Corvette when it comes to a daily driver.įor me. It has a lot to do with weapon placement and overall feel between the two ships.īut as far as overall usefulness. For whatever reason, I don't like using it in combat nearly as much as I do the Corvette. I have yet to rank high enough to buy a Vette on the PC version, but I have one on my Xbox account and it is hands down my favorite ship in the game! I have purchased Anacondas several times on the Xbox version since I started playing the game back in June of 2015, but I tended to just use it as an armed freighter.
